El Campo FFA's, State winning, Dairy Judging team competed at the 85th National FFA Convention and Expo in Indianapolis, Indiana during the week of October 22, 2012. The team consisted of POWER SET members Allison Fucik and Korie Couvillion in addition to Danielle Valenta and Marshall Mach. Their FFA Advisor/Coach is Mr. Shawn Peters.

The National FFA Dairy Cattle Evaluation and Management CDE is a competitive event that tests the student's ability to select and manage quality dairy cattle. Event components include judging six classes of dairy cattle, giving three sets of oral reasons, herd record evaluation, general knowledge evaluation and dairy management team activity. Each team competed at local and state levels to earn the privilege of representing their home states at the National FFA Convention and Expo.

The event, held at the Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis, Ind., is one of many educational activities at the National FFA Convention & Expo in which FFA members demonstrate their ability to apply classroom knowledge to real life situations.

After two long days of competition, the El Campo FFA team received a Silver Metal Ranking overall. Individually, Danielle Valenta placed 9th overall and received a Gold Emblem placing. Allison, Korie and Marshal all received Silver Emblem placing. CONGRATS TO A JOB WELL DONE!!!

This was a wonderful experience for each one of these kids. They encourage other members to set goals and to try to earn the privilege of representing their home state in future FFA National Conventions.
