Dr. Poston at TSTC Waco

    Tech Times staff reports: "Dr. John W. Poston Sr., professor of Nuclear Engineering at Texas A&M University, presented a program on "Radiological, Nuclear Devices and Terrorism" to TSTC faculty, staff and students March 5.

    His presentation, sponsored by the Radiation Protection Technology program, provided an overview of the potential use of radioactive materials in terroristic activities and addressed important issues raised in National Council of Radiation Protection and Measurements (NCRP) publications. Dr. Poston chaired the blue ribbon NCRP Scientific Committees, which produced two national reports on this topic, the first of which was in printing when 9/11 occurred.

    Dr. Poston has a Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology. His early research occurred at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, but he joined the faculty at TAMU in 1985. He is a Fellow of the American Nuclear Society, the Health Physics Society and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. He has authored hundreds of scientific papers and books and is the associate director of the Nuclear Power Institute." Get the latest news from the TSTC website.
