January 13, 2015

Twenty eight El Campo High School Workforce Industry Training (WIT) students and two teachers came to STP to take a driving and simulator tour today. After taking their tour in the morning, the afternoon was spent at Wharton County Junior College in Bay City.

WIT is modeled on the POWER SET program but open to both male and female students in high schools. It provides the educational tools and essential support to pursue educational professional opportunities in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) technical fields. WIT is sponsored by Nuclear Power Institute. Established in 2007, NPI is a statewide partnership led by the Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station and headquartered at Texas A&M University.

NPI brings together four-year universities, two-year educational institutions and public schools with the nuclear power industry, state and local organizations, and state, federal and international agencies.

Tour guides were Sheila Davis, Corporate Communications; John Hodges, Licensed Operator Requalification Training; Sam Dugger, Operations Training and Clarence Fenner, Human Resources.
