Dr. John W. Poston, Sr. Receives the RPSD 2014 Professional Excellence Award

    At the recent American Nuclear Society (ANS) summer meeting in Reno, NV, the Radiation Protection and Shielding Division (RPSD) Executive Committee selected Dr. John W. Poston, Sr. to receive the 2014 Professional Excellence Award. Dr. Poston will be presented a plaque at the upcoming RPSD 2014 meeting in September,  www.rpsd2014.org.

    Dr. John W. Poston, Sr. is recognized "For his exceptional contributions over the last 50 years to the field of radiation protection as an internationally recognized authority on internal radiation dosimetry research, an educator at two major universities, an author of books and NCRP [National Council on Radiation Protection and Measurements] reports, and a leader for many professional societies." Dr. X. George Xu, 2013-2014 ANS/RPSD Chair, wrote in his letter to Dr. Poston, "I have been deeply impressed by your scientific achievements and professional contributions. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for what you have done for ANS and for the RPSD!"

    Congratulations to Dr. Poston on this well-deserved and long overdue honor from the RPSD!

    Dr. John W. Poston, Sr. is a Professor in the Department of Nuclear Engineering and an Associate Director of the Nuclear Power Institute at Texas A&M University.
