C-MORE Visits UT

April 16, 2012
C-MORE participants visit UT

On Friday, April 13th, the C-MORE (Counselors Making Occupational Readiness Exciting) group participated in several activities at the College of Natural Sciences at The University of Texas at Austin. They attended a meeting with career coaches from the Career Design Center, visited with undergraduate STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) students, and held conversations with instructors who concentrate on freshmen success initivies. C-MORE was graciously given the opportunity to serve as evaluators for the Undergraduate Research Forum Poster Session and talk with these accomplished students about their research.

This was the third university visit made by C-MORE this school year. They have already visited Texas A&M University in College Station and Prairie View A&M and will soon visit Sam Houston State University and the University of Houston. These opportunities broaden counselors' awareness of the importance of STEM education as they tend to their daily counseling of students. The C-MORE program strengthens NPI's ties with teachers and students by including counselors who are an essential component of the education team.
