Bay City High School POWER SET visits Texas A&M

February 22, 2016
Bay City High School POWER SET members traveled to College Station February 12-13 to learn more about the genetics industry and to visit colleges of interest at Texas A&M University.

The ladies visited a technology business which mainly works with dairy cattle, deer and goats in genetics studies. Then the students toured Texas A&M University to see the dorms, campus and colleges in which they were interested. They also learned more about college requirements and financial aid. POWER SET (Powerful Opportunities for Women Eager and Ready for Science, Engineering and Technology) is a South Texas high school program that provides educational tools and essential support to students pursuing opportunities in STEM fields (science, technology, engineering and math). The program is sponsored by the Nuclear Power Institute at Texas A&M University, and by industry and the area high schools. Jill Lowry is Bay City High School's POWER SET sponsor.
