E3 Program Helps Teachers Bring Engineering Concepts into the Classroom

The Nuclear Power Institute sponsored two high-school teachers to participate in this year's Enrichment Experiences in Engineering (E3) Program during the month of June in the College of Engineering at Texas A&M University. The teachers were Heidi Elliott from El Campo High School and Doug Ogletree from Glen Rose High School. The E3 Program brought a total of 15 STEM teachers from all over Texas to College Station to spend four weeks participating in real world engineering and science research. By participating in POWER SET, I have been able to fully understand my weaknesses and strengths. I have always known that I wanted to work in one of the STEM fields, but I didn't have a clear understanding of the skills required for each job. News from STP: STEM Teachers Learn about Nuclear, Inspire Their Students

Approximately 400-500 employees will leave the company over the next five to seven years - retiring after more than 20 years with STP. Replacing these teammates is critical to sustaining performance. On May 14-18, 2012, Ms. Tami Davis, NPI Associate Director, visited Ghana where she participated in the "Regional Meeting: African Network for Nuclear Power Infrastructure Development." C-MORE Participants Visit Industry Sites and Universities

This year's participants in NPI's C-MORE program (Counselors Making Occupational Readiness Exciting) spent several days visiting industry sites and universities learning more about the opportunities their students could have after high school graduation.
