Palacios High School POWER SET Visits Sam Houston and Texas A&M Universities

On February 22nd and 23rd, the Palacios High School POWER SET traveled to Sam Houston State University in Huntsville and Texas A&M University in College Station. At SHSU, the young ladies met with Ag Ambassadors in the Department of Agricultural and Industrial Sciences who talked with the girls about general college life, as well as specifics to their majors, including Ag Engineering and Technology and Construction Management. News from STP: Sweeny High School WIT Students Tour Site

The Sweeny High School Workforce Industry Training (WIT) group visited STP for a driving and Simulator tour on Wednesday, January 30, 2013. WIT is modeled on the POWER SET program and is open to both male and female students in high schools. It offers similar benefits and opportunities as POWER SET, such as providing the educational tools and essential support to pursue educational professional opportunities in Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) technical fields. Glen Rose High School students Jacqui Condy, president of POWER SET and Ben Coppock, president of WIT, recently returned from a trip to Washington, D.C. where they had the rare opportunity to see some behind the scenes meetings at the U.S. House of Representatives offices. Nuclear Power Institute Hosting 2nd Annual Science on Saturday (SOS) at Wharton County Junior College

Science on Saturday (SOS) is a science program for the young (K-6) and young at heart. The program will highlight cutting-edge science happening at universities and national laboratories through interactive, hands-on activities that include fun with dry ice, life-sized bubbles, and liquid nitrogen. Christmas in the Lab

The science labs at Bay City High School were the scene for "Christmas in the Lab" on December 13. Cherry Elementary POWER GRID and BRT students and their parents were treated to holiday snacks and then taken into the labs for a series of hands-on scientific experiments with a holiday "theme."
