Boys Resourcing Technology Program
NPI will be introducing a new student mentoring program
grown from and supported by WIT (Workforce Industry
Training) members for pre-teen boys. The BRT (Boys Resourcing
Technology) Program, much like the Power GRID program for girls, will give the
WIT members an opportunity to give back by interacting and
mentoring young male students - to engage them in academic
activities that will impassion these young students to stay focused
on a strong STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) path.
Our WIT members have demonstrated themselves to be highly
impressive with their commitment to career opportunities in STEM.
Our industry partners have sited that WIT members meet many of
their criteria for prospective workforce needs.
Our BRT Mentor Program provides positive high school students
from the WIT organization to motivate pre-teen boys to
cultivate leadership skills, boost character development and
encourage science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) subject
acceleration. The program is a year-long commitment between the WIT
member mentor and a BRT mentee.
BRT Mentor Program Goals:
- Increase boys' sense of self worth
- Improve boys' perspective toward STEM education
- Help boys develop and define their short-term and long-term
- Encourage social awareness through community service
- Build positive relationships and support networks with adults
